Duties

Help

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-15. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

  • Assists with the overall public communications program for SIGTARP.
  • Serves as an advisor to the SIG, General Counsel, Director of Communications, and other senior level managers on dealing with influential audiences on media and Congressional relations, marketing, and information needs/concerns with respect to TARP's programs and responsibilities.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with members of Congress, Congressional committees and/or staffs, the national media, professional associations, non-profit organizations, and other government agencies to explain media objectives and obtain feedback on information needs, concerns, reactions and attitudes.
  • Formulates, oversees and directs the structural development of creative products for TARP, including all media messages, scripts, and story boards for television, radio, print, and Internet publications in multiple languages.
  • Conducts and analyzes focus group research designed to test message and presentation of media strategy. Designs parameters, analyzes and compiles polling results related to evaluations to measure media effectiveness and make appropriate adjustments to the concept, message, and promotional materials.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

  • Assisting in the planning, organizing and developing of programs of a significant scope;
  • Assisting in the preparation of materials for all forms of mass communications and briefings for senior-level officials;
  • Assisting in the development of effective and measurable communication strategies to the media and general public;
  • Communicating with senior-level management regarding standard communication practices; AND
  • Developing written materials designed to encourage others to adopt positions on various issues.
Specialized experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
  • Assisting in the preparation of materials for all forms of mass communications and briefings;
  • Assisting in the development of effective and measurable communication strategies to the media and general public; AND
  • Communicating with management regarding standard communication practices;

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
