If selected for this position, you will serve as an Archives Technician in the Office of the Special Trustee for American Indians –Program Management (PM), Office of Trust Records (OTR), Division of Records Management Operations, Branch of Records Management Research in Lenexa, KS.
The incumbent of this position contributes to the mission of the OTR by providing records research and document production services.

The major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Processing of requests for copies of documents received from a variety of sources. This processing includes analyzing and evaluating the assigned research requests to ensure the information furnished is complete (i.e. proper authorizing signatures, account numbers furnished, documents requested are completely identified, etc.)
Copies or scans, then sends copies of the requested documents to the requestor using the appropriate cover correspondence.
Regularly provides guidance and gives advice and instruction to lower graded Archives Technicians when technical assistance is needed.
Responsible for resolving discrepancies and advising higher authorities of significant problems.
Assists with other assignments as requested, which can include, but not be limited to updating the daily request tracking database, filing documents, assisting with incoming telephone calls, receiving visitors, and maintaining security and control of records and documents.
Indian Preference Policy: Preference in filling this vacancy is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (Title 25, USC, Section 472). GS-5 Qualifications Requirements
Specialized Experience: At least one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-4). Specialized experience is defined asdemonstrated experience: using simple or self-indexing filing systems in a records storage facility or warehouse; entering data into databases; organizing and filing documents.
OR
Education: Four full academic years (120 semester hours) beyond high school at an accredited institution;
OR
Combination: A combination of education and specialized experience that totals 100% of the requirement for the GS-5 grade level.

GS-6 Qualifications Requirements
Specialized Experience: At least one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-5). Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: processing research requests; querying databases for requested documents; making copies or scanning documents from files and ensuring information furnished is correct.
