This position is located in the Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH). PIH’s mission is to provide low-income families affordable housing opportunities as they transition to self-sufficiency and homeownership. PIH oversees the administration of HUD’s Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, Section 8 Rental Assistance, and Native American Programs through a staff of Headquarters and Field employees. The field structure for PIH consists of 29 Hub Offices and 16 Program Centers that provide oversight, direct monitoring, and coordination for approximately 4,200 public housing authorities.Learn more about this agency
As an Administrator, Office of Native American Programs, you will:
- Resolve sensitive issues by interpreting and applying new and existing policy and procedural instructions issued by Headquarters for staff, tribes, and Tribally Designated Housing Entity's.
- Provide administrative and technical supervision of assigned staff including: evaluating subordinate supervisors; hearing and resolving group grievances; reviewing and approving disciplinary actions; managing travel, staff, and equipment resources; providing training for staff; and ensuring that the agency's Affirmative Action Plan is met.
- Assess tribes and Tribally Designated Housing Entity's concerns, broad trends, and technical assistance needs and develops and revise procedures to improve the effectiveness of the office and to adjust to changing conditions.
- Maintain contact with tribal officials, tribal council members, Tribally Designated Housing Entity directors, tenant groups, local, state, and other Federal agency officials to effectively administer the Department's programs and resolve sensitive and controversial issues.
Occasional travel - 1 to 5 nights per month.
