This position is located in a United States Marshals Service (USMS) District Office. The incumbent performs a variety of administrative and clerical support duties. The work requires knowledge of USMS forms and procedures for criminal and civil processing, file management, database management, etc.

Duties

Help

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Receives reviews, coordinates, maintains, monitors and records a variety of criminal case actions and initiates necessary documentation
  • Resolves problems found in documentation and notifies the submitting office or entity of the discrepancies
  • Receives criminal writs; court orders; and Judgment and Commitment orders and determines the action needed to satisfy the order/document
  • Coordinates out-of-district movements with the Justice Prisoner and Alien Transportation division
  • Verifies and updates the automated daily prisoner production calendar for inmates to appear in Federal Courts
  • Utilizes office automation equipment and various software packages (commercial and proprietary to include MS WORD and MS EXCEL) to accomplish work
  • Receives and screen calls and visitors to the office

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying:

  • Establishing and maintaining files in accordance with established procedures and retention regulations;
  • Assisting with the preparation of recurring reports and responding to questions from inside and outside the agency concerning civil and criminal actions;
  • Assisting with maintaining spreadsheet data;
  • Editing the formatting, alignment, and graphs of reports and other documents created in word-processing software.
Typing Requirement: Applicants must self-certify a typing speed of at least 40 words per minute with 3 or fewer errors.
