Help

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

  • Provide technical support to the Radar Product Lead, systems engineering and test teams.
  • Provide PMA-265 assessment of the possible software implementation of future capabilities within the current legacy F/A-18 Radar systems.
  • Provide PMA estimates for resource and schedule (that is integrated with overall PMA integrated master schedule) for implementation of radar software upgrades.

Requirements:

Generally, current Federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. All qualifications and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.

Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and requires additional education, training and experience. This position has been identified as a Systems Engineering Career Field at Level II. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. Must be willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics; or electronics.

OR

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT) , or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Absent other means of qualifying under this standard, those applicants who achieved such registration by means other than written test (e.g., State grandfather or eminence provisions) are eligible only for positions that are within or closely related to the specialty field of their registration. OR

Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. OR

Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under in the first option for meeting the Basic Education Requirement. The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in in the first option for meeting the Basic Education Requirement.

OR

Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, (e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology) may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. NOTE: If you qualify under this option, you must provide a copy of your engineering training plan, OR identify where in your resume you've documented several years of prior professional engineering type experience. Additionally, you must indicate where you worked and the name of your supervisor when you gained your professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance.


In addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate: 08XX: a least one year of Professional Engineering specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band (DP-04) or grade level (GS-12/13) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following duties: 1) Applying software processes, policies, and guidance; 2) Developing legacy F/A-18 radar software; 3) Executing tasks within approved budget and schedule; 4) Guiding the design and development of the radar SSA team; 5) Providing technical support to the Radar Product Lead, systems engineering, and test teams.

1520: at least one year of Professional Mathematician specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band (DP-04) or grade level (GS-12/13) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following duties: 1) Applying software processes, policies, and guidance; 2) Developing legacy F/A-18 radar software; 3) Executing tasks within approved budget and schedule; 4) Guiding the design and development of the radar SSA team; 5) Providing technical support to the Radar Product Lead, systems engineering, and test teams.

1550: at least one year of Professional Computer Scientist specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band (DP-04) or grade level (GS-12/13) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following duties: 1) Applying software processes, policies, and guidance; 2) Developing legacy F/A-18 radar software; 3) Executing tasks within approved budget and schedule; 4) Guiding the design and development of the radar SSA team; 5) Providing technical support to the Radar Product Lead, systems engineering, and test teams.
