Duties

Help

  • Serves as the primary liaison with Smithsonian Enterprises (SE) to identify and implement new revenue generating activities.
  • Performs as the primary coordinator of the implementation of the museum’s strategic plan, tactical plans, and development, measurement and tracking of key performance indicators and performance metrics.
  • Conceives and works on new initiatives and projects for the Associate Director that may cross-cut the NASM organization designed to strengthen, standardize, reengineer, facilitate, integrate or enhance the museum’s various programs.
  • Provides support to the Public Program committee by reviewing proposals and assisting in the development of appropriate goals, measures and outcomes.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for this position if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position specialized experience is defined as analyzing complex and diverse programs, providing advice on implementation strategies, action planning; and providing information on performance and cost metrics for all facets of operations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Your application will be evaluated first for the basic qualifications described above. The applications that meet the basic qualifications will be evaluated further against the following criteria:

  • Demonstrates skill with collaborative software such as dashboards to support information collection, analysis and presentation.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective and cooperative working relationship within the museum as well as with the various outside stakeholders.
  • Skill in techniques and methodologies for the development, implementation, execution and tracking of performance metrics, strategic plans, vision statements, mission statements and other organization planning tools.
  • Knowledge of standard financial documentation such as profit and loss statements.
