OIG is organized into three line elements: the Offices of Investigations, Audits and Evaluations, and Healthcare Inspections; along with the Office of Contract Review and the Office of Management and Administration. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 30 cities throughout the country.
The Supervisory Health Systems Specialist, located in the Office of Office of Healthcare Inspections (OHI), is responsible for overseeing and directing a staff of Health Systems Specialists (HSS), program analysts, and clerical employees in conducting health care program evaluations, and assessments of operating effectiveness and the efficacy of quality management (QM) procedures in individual VA medical centers (VAMC), and Veterans Integrated Service Networks (VISN) throughout the Veterans Health Administration’s (VHA) nationwide health care system, with emphasis on issues that encompass the designated area.
