    OIG is organized into three line elements: the Offices of Investigations, Audits and Evaluations, and Healthcare Inspections; along with the Office of Contract Review and the Office of Management and Administration. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 30 cities throughout the country.

    The SUPERVISORY HEALTH SYSTEMS SPECIALIST, located in the Office of Assistant Inspector General for Healthcare Inspections in the Healthcare Regional Offices, is responsible for establishing and managing a nationwide program of quality assurance and patient care inspection and oversight activities covering the broad scope of Veterans Health Administration quality assurance and patient care activities at the Headquarters level, the Veterans Health Administration regions, and more than 300 Veterans Health Administration healthcare facilities.


    This position will be filled in One of the Office of Healthcare Inspection (OHI) Office's following locations: Arlington, VA, Atlanta, GA, Baltimore, MD, Bay Pines, FL, Bedford, MA, Chicago, IL, Dallas, TX, Denver, CO, Kansas City, MO, Los Angeles, CA, San Diego, CA, Seattle, WA or Washington DC.

    Responsibilities

    As a SUPERVISORY HEALTH SYSTEMS SPECIALIST, you will:

    · Plan, develop, coordinate, monitor, and assist in implementation of nationwide program of inspections and special reviews of VHA medical centers, medical regions, and headquarters quality assurance and patient care activities.
    · Coordinate with OIG regional offices and headquarters staff to review and edit healthcare inspection reports.
    · Participate with the Assistant Inspector General for Healthcare Inspections in planning meetings for scheduling inspections and projects, and lead national inspection, projects, and research efforts.
    · Use a broad range of qualitative and quantitative techniques to conduct quality assurance reviews of health systems and delivery programs, and quality assurance and patient care review, inspection, and oversight projects to evaluate quality assurance procedures.
    · Develop information for presentation and testimony for the Inspector General to present to Congressional committee hearings pertaining to quality assurance and patient care events and issues that are of national interest or concern.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Travel nationwide under tight deadlines. The incumbent should anticipate frequent walking and standing as a component of this travel.
