As an intermittent Learning Director for Facilities Engineering, you will:
Apply your knowledge, experience, and technical managerial, and leadership skills to teach and facilitate higher levels of learning for the Department of Defense Acquisition workforce for specific areas under the field of facilities engineering
Teach and facilitate higher levels of learning for the Department of Defense Acquisition workforce for specific areas under a field of program management or contracting
Support organizations within the Department of Defense on facilities engineering with onsite workshops and intact team training
Develop and manage course material, learning assets and learning products for the facilities engineering career field
Consult with DoD and/or non-DoD clients in areas related to facilities engineering
DAU Intermittent Faculty Employees are subject to all applicable Federal ethics restrictions. You will be required to become a member of the Acquisition Corps. DoD instruction 5000.58R specifies qualification standards for Corps membership (waiver of some of these standards is possible in the limited circumstances described in the instruction).
You will be required to join the DAU Faculty Plan as established by Title 10 of the US Code. This position is in the excepted service (non-career). Candidates currently in the competitive service will be required to sign a statement indicating that they are leaving the competitive services voluntarily to accept an appointment in the excepted service.
The appointment is made for a period of one year; however, it may be extended each year based on satisfactory performance and a continuing university requirement.
If selected for this position, you MUST be able to begin work within 90 days of acceptance.
Intermittent Employees do not earn leave and in most cases are not eligible for other government benefits.
Permanent Change of Station (PCS) expenses will NOT be paid. Intermittent Employees may be allowed to work from home or other alternate work sites, on occasion.

Qualifications
For optimum consideration, please ensure your resume reflects how your experience and educational achievements are related to key functional areas of this position including: experience, teaching abilities, mission assistance/consulting, and curriculum development. Current Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) level 3 certification in the Facilities Engineering career field or equivalent professional certification is required or have the ability to obtain this certification within 24 months of appointment. 1. Experience: Describe in detail the depth and breadth of your facility engineering experience in the Department of Defense (DoD) or other federal agency. Contracting and/or program management experience related to facilities engineering is preferred and should also be included. A professional engineer (PE) or registered architect (RA) certification is preferred. This includes processes used in real estate, planning, design, construction, maintenance, and disposal of a facility on military installations and the infrastructure developed in civil works projects. This also includes environmental professionals with direct knowledge on how environmental considerations are integrated into facility life cycle. Experience in the total ownership cost management on how a facility integrates into a military installation's mission and how well it co-exists with the installation, the surrounding environment, and how it is managed in the Defense acquisition system.
2. Teaching: Demonstrated ability to teach and facilitate adult learning, process relevant threads/themes, define objectives, draw conclusions, maintain audience interest, and effectively facilitate student learning in facilities engineering areas noted in paragraph 1. This includes the ability to communicate (orally and in writing) complex material to students with different backgrounds in delivery methods such as guided discussions, short lectures, role plays, problem-based learning and case studies.
3. Curriculum Development: Ability to develop and manage course material, learning assets and learning products for the facilities engineering career field, and other career fields, to include the continuous assessment, currency, and quality of various types of learning assets and learning products for the facility engineering areas noted in paragraph one. Describe any experience with curriculum development in the areas of classroom courses, distance learning courses, or continuous learning modules.
4. Mission Assistance/Consulting: Ability to consult with DoD and/or non-DoD clients in areas related to facilities engineering as noted in paragraph 1 above and to DoD acquisition management in general.
