VACT Healthcare System is seeking a full-time
Physician (Pathologist) for the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
Service. Duties include but are not limited to:
· Provides clinical care
· Oversees clinical care provided by house staff
(residents) or other trainees
· Performs, supervises or directs basic and applied
research
· Follows medical center and medical staff policies
· Continues education ensuring medical knowledge is
current and he/she is familiar with recent advances in the assigned areas
· Monitors their own compliance with patient rights
and monitors subordinates compliance
· Provides timely, effective, efficacious,
appropriate, efficient, safe, ethical and mindful patient care
· Assists with resident, medical student and
pathologist assistant education
Work Schedule: Monday-
Friday/ 8am-4:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays
Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
Physical Requirements: Physicians should be physically and
mentally capable to perform the duties of the position. The position will require walking, standing
or sitting for periods of up to 8 hours.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
· Citizenship
of the United States.
· Degree
of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of
education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by
the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was
completed.
· Current,
full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State,
Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of
Columbia.
· Completion
of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of
Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to
eligibility for board certification in anatomic pathology
· Proficiency
in spoken and written English
· Physical
requirements outlined below
Preferred Experience:
· Broad
expertise in surgical pathology
· Subspecialty
expertise, particularly in gastrointestinal and/or genitourinary pathology
· Eligible
for faculty appointment at Yale University
· Scholarly
involvement
· Teaching
skills
