Help

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

  • You will analyze, process and make available born-digital and digitized records in digital formats and is a subject Matter Expert SME on digital records in the Archives Branch.
  • You will use uniform archival procedures and methods in the arrangement, preservation and development of effective finding aids and databases IAW the Archives Processing Manual.
  • You will execute best practices for digital preservation and conversion including image capture, data migration and metadata creation to include web-based applications and conversion of existing materials into digital formats while ensuring the preservation of the original format of permanent records.
  • You will post records that are most frequently requested or most historically significant and ensure the preservation and proper disposition of the original format of permanent records.
  • You will ensure proper arrangement of naval history records according to subject matter and organizational development.

Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in archival science or bachelor's degree with a major that includes 18 semester hours in archival science, history and/or in political science or government, and 12 semester hours in one or any combination of the following: archival science, history, American civilization, economics, political science, public administration, or government.

OR

Combination of education and experience - at least 30 semester hours that included courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1.) Processing born-digital and digitized records; 2.) Using digital archival content management tools and systems for digital and paper records; 3.) Developing finding aids and data bases; 4.) Ensuring preservation and proper disposition of the original format of permanent records upon digitalization. 5. Ensuring the proper arrangement and description of archival materials.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
