About the Position:  This position is located in the In-Flight Interceptor Communications System (IFICS) Data Terminal (IDT) Complex.  


Note: This position is subject to the Lautenberg amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of violence to ship, transport, possess or receive firearms or ammunition. Civilian personnel of the Department of Defense are not exempt from this provision. Therefore, as a condition of employment, the selectee will be required to sign the DD Form 2760 acknowledging understanding of this provision.

Note: As required by 5 U.S.C. 3310 and 5 CFR 330.401, guard positions are restricted to preference eligible. Nonveterans may be appointed to guard positions only if no qualified preference eligible are available. Duties

Help

You will perform security guard duties to detect and prevent theft, damage, accident, trespass, sabotage, espionage, and enforce the security regulations of the installation. As a Security Guard, you will provide access control of vehicles and pedestrians to the IDT Complex, based on an approved limited access roster and/or appropriate restricted area access badges. You will verify identification through use of identification cards, badges, biometrics, automated records, vehicle decals, verbal questioning, and other means. As required by instructions or force protection level, you will conduct vehicle searches/inspections (to include cargo areas, engine compartments, and undercarriages), in accordance with standing operating procedures; confiscating unauthorized or otherwise controlled items, and detaining those suspected of criminal or other illegal activity.  You will question suspicious persons and warn or detain violators of laws, regulations, policies, and rules or posted warnings. You will conduct armed foot patrol of IDT Complex perimeter; interior and exterior of restricted areas to inspect for security violations. Log and report accidents and render first aid to the injured commensurate with training certification. You will identify and report security violations. You may be required to serve as a first responder in case of fire, accident, medical emergency or criminal/terrorist incident.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Direct Deposit of Pay is Required.
  • Position requires the to travel away from the duty station on overnight trips 5% of the time.
  • Must pass entry level and annual re-certification of the standard Army physical fitness/agility test.
  • Must be able to pass an initial (and annually thereafter) physical.
  • Must be able to pass drug testing.
  • Must complete and sign DD-2760 stating whether or not they have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
  • Position requires a secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts.
  • The hours for this position encompass fluctuating tours of duty.
  • Position requires periodic overtime and is subject to recall for periods of emergency overtime.
  • Must be able to pass an initial qualification (and semi-annually thereafter) in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
  • Must be able to submit to an initial (and annually thereafter) medical exam of physical, emotional, and mental stability.
  • Must be able to successfully complete initial, annual, and recertification security guard training prior to being assigned solo security guard duties.
  • Must be able to successfully complete initial and annual Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid training.
  • Must be able to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain certification in the use of aerosol irritants and the baton.
  • Must be able to  obtain and maintain a valid state motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Position requires to correctly wear a prescribed uniform.
  • Position requires to work outside and be exposed to inclement weather.
  • Position is designated as weather essential.
  • Position is designated as mission essential during increased force protection conditions (FPCON).

Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized experience is defined as: working with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NK-01).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

Education
