About the Position:

This position is located at the US Army TMDE Activity, TMDE Support-Region East, Fort Dix, New Jersey.

Located in central New Jersey, Burlington County, Fort Dix is 72 miles southwest of New York City, 34 miles northeast of Philadelphia, and is included in the New York locality pay area. Close to the Jersey shore, Fort Dix is also within short driving distance of a wide variety of leisure activities, cultural centers, museums, historical locations, fishing, hunting, boating, skiing, snow boarding, hiking locations, etc.

      Help

      As a Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator, you will perform the following duties:

      • calibrate test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE)
      • troubleshoot and repair TMDE
      • collect and analyze calibration data
      • implement, modify, and develop technical procedures
      • utilize automated systems to document test results and prepare reports

      • Moving / relocation expenses may be paid.
      • DNRP services will not be authorized.
      • Business travel up to 5% of the time is required.
      • Must obtain and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license.

      • This position is identified as Emergency Essential (E-E).  Occasional deployment to forward areas may be required. E-E employees may be required to undergo nuclear-biological and chemical training and to participate in readiness tests, mobilization, alerts, and field training exercises. Employee must pass a medical examination and receive required immunizations for the overseas/deployed location.
      • Business travel up to 5% of the time will be required.
      • You must obtain and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license. 
      • You must pass a pre-employment physical, and any post-employment physicals, as required.

      Qualifications

      SCREEN OUT: There is a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The screen-out element for this position is:  Ability to do the work of a Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator without more than normal supervision.

       

      There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the work of the position without more than normal supervision.

       

      JOB ELEMENTS: In addition to the screen-out element, you will be rated against the following elements:

       

      • Knowledge of Equipment, Assembly, Installation and Repair, etc.
      • Theory and Instruments (Electrical, Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade Practices, and Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
      • Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, Etc. (includes blueprint reading), and Troubleshooting
      • Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
         

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

       

      The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.

       

      WORKING CONDITIONS:

      The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage, high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
