About the Position:

Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The depots enormous maintenance mission includes the repair, rebuild, overhaul and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles. Duties

Help

  • Serves as a Test, Measurement, & Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) Supervisor responsible for supervising workers in the calibration and repair of a wide range of calibration standards.
  • Occasionally adapting procedures, participating in studies and test to determine limitations of test equipment and functions designed to increase the accuracy and effectiveness of the assigned calibration and repair program.
  • Study and analyze work operations and make changes in workflow, methods, priorities, etc.
  • Directs and review work assignments, provide technical advice, and technical assistance to subordinates on TMDE.
  • Is responsible for the execution of administrative and personnel management responsibilities related to the accomplishment of the assigned mission.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Emergency Essential position: This position is identified as Emergency Essential (E-E), occasional deployment to forward areas may be required. E-E employees may be required to undergo nuclear-biological and chemical training and to participate in readiness tests, mobilization, alerts, and field training exercises. Employee must pass a medical examination and receive required immunizations for the overseas/deployed location.
  • This position requires incumbent to Sign DD Form 2365, DoD Civilian Employee Overseas Emergency Essential Position Agreement, prior to entrance on duty.  
  • Business travel up to 10% of the time maybe required.
  • Must obtain and satisfactory complete pre-employment physical and must maintain a satisfactory physical annually.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).  You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

SCREEN OUT: There is a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The screen-out element for this position is the Ability to Lead or Supervise. Resumes will be reviewed for experience and/or training which demonstrates ability to performing common Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator tasks including calibrate and repair Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) in the parameters of electrical, electronic, microwave, physical, and dimensional standards and measurements applicable to the calibration, certification, and evaluation of unusually complex high precision calibration laboratory reference standards.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:  

JOB ELEMENTS:

  • Knowledge of Equipment, Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc.
  • Theory and Instruments (Electrical, Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade Practices.
  • Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic).
  • Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading).
  • Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment.
  • Trouble shooting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage, high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
