Help

As a Accounting Technician, GS-0525-8, you will plan:

  • Perform broad in-depth analysis on multiple management systems and applies this information to complicated precedent type cases to resolve especially difficult and sensitive, out of balance conditions associated with processing actions within accounting systems.
  • Perform fact finding, research, and investigations to identify, analyze and recommend solutions regarding fiscal accounting activity.
  • Examine accounts or resolves difficult reconciliations requiring an analysis of adjustments and corrections in accounts.
  • Research regulations, policies, procedures and legal decisions to work and/or resolve complex fiscal issues/problems regardless of the technical difficulties encountered.
  • Use fiscal accounting and related interfaced systems to provide input/adjustments to the fiscal accounting database of record.

  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Areas of Consideration:

Areas I: All permanent technicians within the New Jersey Army National Guard
Areas II: All permanent technicians of the New Jersey Army National Guard

Military Grades: SPC/E-4 to SSG/E-6

Compatible Military Assignments: 36B or 42A
Selectee has two (2) years to attain required MOS

Financial Management Certification

Employees must obtain the appropriate certification levels for their positions within 24 months after initial assignment; and, employees must maintain the positions' continuous training and education studies, as identified for each certification level, during the defined 24 month period.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training involving arithmetic principles, attention to detail, and application of established procedures for recording and compiling data; experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 18 months experience, education, or training of total accounting procedures, experience planning, organizing and coordinating work in order to resolve problems that occur.
