Instruct Midshipmen and support instruction in the Engineering laboratories.
Participate in laboratory course development and student evaluation of laboratory courses in the Engineering laboratories.
Develop and implement proper operation and safety procedures in the laboratories.
Be assigned duties and responsibilities involving the selection, fabrication, installation, and maintenance/repair of instructional equipment in the Engineering laboratories.
Prepare purchase orders for the Engineering laboratories.
At times, oversee contractors performing tasks in the Engineering laboratories.

Qualifications
To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience.
To qualify for the GS-11 on Experience, you must have at least one year of equal or equivalent experience, it must include:
Experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of marine/mechanical equipment such as pumps, turbines, generators, diesel engines or equivalent.
Experience in the installation, operation, and repair of power plant equipment such as steam, diesel generators, or equivalent.
Experience operating machine shop equipment such as lathes, drill presses, welding machines, or equivalent. Familiarity with lathe operation and welding is desired.
Experience developing courses/laboratories and/or providing instruction in a lab or classroom environment.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
