Summary

About the Position:

Serves as an Equipment Specialist with responsibility to implement the Technical Assistance plan for the Radio IT electronics equipment family of systems throughout their life cycle. As the commodity command's Technical Subject Matter Expert and focal point for technical assistance for Radio IT electronics equipment family of systems: Participates in extensive weapon system integration theory, planning and testing as evidenced by a continual focus on expanding the applications and capabilities of assigned systems. Serves as the Commodity Commander's focal point for technical excellence. Maintains proficiency on IT-Radio supported equipment to include a variety of radio systems, ground night vision and combat surveillance systems and Ground Position Systems (GPS). Troubleshoot and test equipment to sustain the force anytime and anywhere.

NOTE:  This advertisement is open in 18 Continental United States (CONUS) locations. The location of this position will be determined at the time of selection, based upon mission needs.

    Qualifications

    Experience required:

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).  You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.   

    Specialized experience for the GS-09 grade level is defined as: (1) providing general technical advice and instruction to users of Radio IT equipment and the supporting communications equipment for which the Communications Electronic Command (CECOM) is logistically responsible; (2) assisting in the resolution of equipment failures; (3) identifying supply problems affecting the overall maintenance effort; and (4) troubleshooting problems with Radio IT electronics equipment such as High Frequency (HF), Very High Frequency (VHF) and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Radio Systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level or equivalent pay band position in the Federal service (GS-07).

    Specialized experience for the GS-11 grade level is defined as: (1) providing general technical advice and instruction to users of Radio IT equipment and the supporting communications equipment for which the Communications Electronic Command (CECOM) is logistically responsible; (2) assisting in the resolution of equipment failures; (3) identifying supply problems affecting the overall maintenance effort; and (4) troubleshooting problems with Radio IT electronics equipment such as High Frequency (HF), Very High Frequency (VHF) and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Radio Systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level or equivalent pay band position in the Federal service (GS-09).

    Specialized experience for the GS-12 grade level is defined as:(1) providing expert technical advice and instruction to users of Radio IT electronics equipment and the supporting communications equipment for which Communications Electronic Command (CECOM) is logistically responsible; (2) resolving equipment failures; (3) identifying supply problems affecting the overall maintenance effort; (4)  determining future training needs; and (5) troubleshooting problems with Radio IT electronics equipment such as High Frequency (HF), Very High Frequency (VHF) and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Radio Systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level or equivalent pay band position in the Federal service (GS-11).

    You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

    Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade level (or equivalent).

    For the GS-09 grade level you must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent.

    For the GS-11 grade level you must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the GS-09 grade level or equivalent.

    For the GS-12 grade level you must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent.

    Education

    Some Federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below (Transcripts must be submitted with you application package):

    For the GS-09 Grade Level: master's or equivalent graduate degree

    or

    2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

    or

    LL.B. or J.D., if related.

    For the GS-11 Grade Level: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

    or

    3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

    or

    LL.M., if related

    For the GS-12 Grade Level: There is no education substitution at the GS-12 grade level.
