Duties

Help

  • Reviews written products including reports of investigation, policy documents, investigations policy and procedures manuals and guides, and ensures they are written in accordance with professional standards.
  • Recommends edits as required for readability, tone and style to be suitable for the intended audience.
  • Reviews and verifies information in consultation with investigators.
  • Recommends new presentation formats to ensure material is presented clearly and in accordance with established templates and correspondence guides.
  • Ensures clarity and correctness of spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Ensures that statements are complete, clear, and logical; that technical terminology is uniform; that syntax and expression are consistent; and that report organization is logical and conveys the desired emphasis.
  • Reviews draft policy documents for adherence to the DoD Issuances guidelines.
  • Independently develops complex training material on report preparation, writing techniques, and technical writing matters (e.g., punctuation, grammar, capitalization).
  • Establishes and operates in a SharePoint environment for editorial collaboration and organization of written products.

Background or Security Investigation: This is a non-critical sensitive position and as such, the incumbent must hold or be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance. this position requires a background investigation which may delay your starting date. Qualifications

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as: Editing reports, manuals and guides, ensuring they are in conformance with professional standards and style guidelines, such as Federal Plain Language Guide, The Associated Press (AP) Stylebook or The Elements of Style (Strunk and White).

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education is not substitutable for specialized experience for this grade level.
