    This position is located in Alexandria, VA with the Department of Defense, Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG), Office of the Deputy Inspector General of Investigations (DIG INV), Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS), and Investigative Operations Directorate.

    Responsibilities

    The incumbent is responsible for the oversight and review of the goals and objectives of a major program and liaison/operational contacts at the headquarters level for the Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS) headquarters office. The incumbent will also:

    • Plans, coordinates and conducts inspections of agency HQ and regional offices at regular intervals to ensure agency is operating in compliance with laws, regulations and standards; effectively managing and using resources.
    • Provides inspection oversight of management and the functionality of operational and administrative programs; identifies and establishes inspection program criteria. 
    • Prepares inspection reports. 
    • Test agency's internal controls to mitigate risk and improve internal operations. 
    • Coordinates, facilitates and supports external reviews. 
    • Coordinates investigations, many of which affect organizational integrity and/or the national defense; maintains operational, administrative and historical files. 
    • Provides direction and guidance to field elements regarding investigative procedures, techniques, and methods. 
    • Analyzes trend and pattern in the overall program as well as in the management and conduct of individual investigations. 
    • Makes recommendation to management regarding best practices, organizational vulnerabilities, material weaknesses and policy updates/changes.
