Duties

Help

• Conduct administrative investigations involving allegations of irregularities, fraud, conflicts of interest, and improprieties on the part of members of the military service, civilian employees, and persons contracting with the Agency
• Plan, organize, and conduct highly complex investigations of violations of DISA  policies and instructions and United States statutes and regulations such as Titles 10, 15, 18, and 48 of the U.S. Code, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation, misuse of government equipment, travel and time card fraud, conflicts of interest, and other Federal statutes covering violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice
• Conduct investigations with extreme tact and discretion since premature disclosure of evidence could impede the investigation or unjustly affect the reputation of innocent persons
• Evaluate evidence, distinguish facts from hearsay, and provide reports of investigation to the DISA Inspector General
• Identify violations of Federal statutes, investigate wrongdoing, preserve evidence, ensure the Constitutional rights of suspects and witnesses during an investigation, and present findings to DISA officials, US Attorneys, and staff judge advocates for action and/or prosecution
• Identify recommendations that the OIG makes to DISA senior officials to improve the efficiency of DISA operations or reduce the likelihood of fraud or other improprieties

Background or Security Investigation:

Qualifications

Time in Grade:

For entry at the GS-13 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher grade in the Federal Service.

Specialized Experience:

For GS-13, at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-12 if outside the Federal service, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as conducting investigations to include planning, gathering evidence, conducting interviews, and writing reports.

In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position.  Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of knowledge, skills and abilities, or competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position.  Applicants must describe how their experience meets the competencies within the body of the resume.  No separate statements addressing KSA's or competencies are required.

Education cannot be used as a substitute for the Specialized Experience requirement.
