This position is located in the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), Office of the General Counsel (OGC). The incumbent provides leadership and oversight in the management and direction of the offices within OGC which include technical advice and guidance to managers, supervisors, professional staff, and administrative employees.

As Deputy General Counsel, duties include but are not limited to the following:
Direct professional attorneys and technical staff within the Office of the General Counsel.
Provide expert advice to executive leadership on complex legal matters for agency programmatic or operational decisions regarding immigration law, employment law, FOIA, and Privacy Act laws.
Refine broad plans and programs in the development of legal methods and means of accomplishing desired results.
Provide methods for uniform interpretation and application of legislation governing identical functions and missions.
Formulate processes for the review of draft regulations, policy statements, speeches, briefings, issue papers, and provisions for the legal analysis and risk assessments to senior agency officials.
You must complete a background investigation, credit check, and drug test.

Qualifications
In order to qualify for the Deputy General Counsel position, you must meet all the following minimum qualifications by the closing date of announcement: Minimum Qualifications:
A. Applicants must have a LL.B. or J.D. degree and be an active member of the bar, duly licensed and authorized to practice law as an attorney under the laws of a U.S. state, territory, Puerto Rico, or the District of Columbia (include the date of your admission to the bar). B. Applicants must possess at least (4) four years post-J.D. legal experience.
