Duties

Help

  • Chief of the Advertising and Public Affairs Division for a Recruiting Battalion (BN).
  • Responsible for planning, directing and supervising the activities of the office and all assigned personnel.
  • Plans, develops and manages advertising programs for Active Army and U.S. Army Reserve recruiting within the BN area.
  • Conducts media and market analyses to determine which media are best suited to reach primary and secondary target markets.
  • Plans and supervises sales promotion activities within the BN area.
  • Plans and supervises all aspects of Command information, public information and community relations within the BN.

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Direct Deposit of Pay is Required.
  • Travel throughout the Battalion area up to 20% of the time as required.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as:  plan and organize public affairs programs and activities.  Develop written material for use in formal briefings, and/or news publications.  Use of internet or  web pages to disseminate information to the public and media.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

  • Skill to Manage Social Media
  • Knowledge of Command Information Programs and Public Release Policies
  • Ability to Communicate in Writing
  • Ability to Communicate Orally

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.  For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:

Ph.D. degree of equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant filed of study;  and/or successfully completed 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. OR

Combination of specialized experience and education.
