The GS-12 Social Worker - Suicide Prevention Program Coordinator is assigned to the Mental Health Service Line. The Suicide Prevention Program Coordinator has broad management responsibilities for a team of clinicians who consult and support other care providers in all service lines across the Minneapolis facility which includes the 13 community based outpatient clinics. The incumbent advises providers from diverse disciplines regarding interventions to mitigate risk for Veterans with complex mental health, substance abuse, and medical risk factors for suicide. Responsibilities encompass development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical interventions. The incumbent is responsible for supervision and administrative oversight of daily operations and outcomes for the Health Care System's Suicide Prevention Program. The Suicide Prevention Program Coordinator ensures that care of the highest quality is delivered to Veterans at risk for suicide which requires complex, specialized, highly professional services.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to do light lifting/carrying, up to 15 pounds, bending and stooping, standing/sitting/walking for prolonged periods.
Basic Requirements:
Citizenship: United States Citizen
Education: Master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CWSE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to the CSWE website.
Licensure: Must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the advanced practice level.
English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
Grade Requirements for GS-12 Social Worker Program Coordinator:
In addition to meeting the basic entry qualification requirements, applicants must have specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-11)
Experience, Education and Licensure:
Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator or manager must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level. Their experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. They may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the professional KSAs below.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. In-depth knowledge of the program coordinated, and demonstrated knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program.
2. Knowledge and skill in management/administration, which includes supervision, consultation, negotiation, and monitoring.
3. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program.
4. Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet multiple deadlines, and evaluate assigned program area(s).
5. Ability to provide training, orientation, consultation and guidance within clinical specialization of practice.
Quality of Experience. Experience is only creditable if it is obtained following graduation with a master's degree in social work and if it includes work as a professional social worker directly related to the position to be filled. Qualifying experience must also be at a level comparable to social work experience at the next lower level.
