Summary
The Congressional Research Service (CRS) Government and Finance Division is seeking an Analyst in Financial Economics to analyze public policy issues related to U.S. financial institutions and markets, including securities markets, housing finance, and consumer finance. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of and experience with assessing financial markets and institutions, conveying complex information in writing to a wide range of audiences, and communicating information orally to policymakers.
Applicants should have experience conducting policy analysis in these areas and must be able to work as part of a collaborative team. Strong writing, research, and presentation skills are essential.
The analyst will located and interpret factual information; conduct research; prepare objective, nonpartisan, descriptive, background, and analytical reports; and participate in team research projects and seminars. The analyst is also expected to develop over time the skills necessary to provide public policy and legislative analysis and consultation to congressional committees, Members, and staff at increasingly sophisticated levels.
CRS works exclusively for the United States Congress, providing policy and legal analysis to committees and Members of both the House and Senate, regardless of party affiliation. As a legislative branch agency within the Library of Congress, CRS has been a valued and respected resource on Capitol Hill for more than a century.

The salary range indicated reflects the locality pay adjustments for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area.
The incumbent of this position may work a flextime or compflex work schedule.
