Ideal candidates for the FDIC OIG internship opportunities are individuals pursuing undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Business Management, Public Administration, Law, Economics, Financial Management, Accounting, Political Science, Media Relations, Public Communication, Journalism, Management Information Systems, Web Design, Cybersecurity, Information Technology and/or related fields.
As an Intern, the duties assigned are contingent upon the type of internship and the OIG Office assigned. Some of the duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Liaison to internal and external departments and organizations.
Respond to inquiries and route correspondences to the appropriate party.
Collect, compile, and coordinate submitted information for reports.
Produce a variety of written documents utilizing varied and advanced word processing software functions, working from handwritten draft, edited copy, or electronic files created by another staff member.
Properly manage sensitive and privacy data and information.
Take initiative to learn about customer needs and recognize potential issues and is able to identify and recommend alternative solutions.
Research and analyze data to identify problems, significant factors, and trends to assist in decision-making.
Conduct reviews, audits and other studies for management.
Provide administrative, analytical, or technical office support.
Provide assistance with website design and social media functions.
Perform a variety of assignments involving the practical application of information technology principles, procedures, and trends in cyber security.
Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Qualifications
To qualify for this program, applicants must: (1) be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a degree seeking program at a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis; (2) have an academic major in a field listed under “duties”; (3) have a minimum cumulative (overall) GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0; and (4) be in good academic standing.
Eligible applicants may qualify for grades based on education, experience, or a combination of education and experience. Education and experience requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
Education:
CG-04: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.
CG-05: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree.
Note: One full academic year of undergraduate is 30 semester hours. One full academic year of graduate/vocational/trades/technical/high school education is the number of credit hours determined by the college/university/school. A certificate program must be a 1 year academic program if attending at a full-time status.
