Duties

Help

  • Advise the Chairman of AbilityOne on the state of the efficiency and effectiveness of the Commission and it effectiveness in meeting program requirements;
  • Recommend policies and activities to promote economy, efficiency, effectiveness; prevent and detect fraud, waste, and abuse in the administration of programs;
  • Ensure all OIG activities are carried out in accordance with the Government Audit Standards, polices of Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) and any other applicable mandates to comply with the Inspector General Act of 1978.
  • Establish objectives, coordinates and monitors AbilityOne Commission inspection programs;
  • Inform the Chairman and senior officials about problems and deficiencies in the administration of the Commission's programs, functions and operations;
  • Advise the Chairman on status, progress, and problems with setting up and conducting inspections and investigations;
  • Analyze investigative results, prepares metrics and trend analyses, proposes preventive measures to attack predicted adverse conditions;
  • Review and monitors the collection, integration and analysis of data; controls the timeliness of investigations, Commission inspections and external audits;
  • Compile and analyze data, recognize trends, employs various investigative methods

Time-in-Grade Requirements: Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade in the Federal service.  All qualifications and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

New employees must serve a one year probationary period.

Additional Requirements:

Expertise in a wide range of administrative investigations and inspections. 

  • Expertise in responding to audits and inspections recommendations
  • Understanding of the investigation process
  • Expertise in managing work to enhance goals and objectives  
  • Expertise in analyzing data and investigating cases

Qualifications

You must have at least one year of full-time specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the federal government. This experience includes: knowledge of the Javits-Wagner-O Day (JWOD) Act. Manage, plan, direct, integrate, and evaluate all actions related to the establishment and implementation of the agency OIG.  Develop policies and procedures and fosters the relationships necessary to create and implement an agency OIG and establish objectives, plans overall work operations to be accomplished. Sets priorities and establishes schedules for investigative and audit work completion.
