This acknowledgement is necessary as movement between the excepted service and competitive service may be limited if the employee does not possess competitive status.
All new DCIPS employees must successfully complete a two-year trial period.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Serving as a
senior program manager responsible for the design, development, test and/or
evaluation functions for Information Warfare (IW) systems; 2) Applying expert knowledge and resourcefulness in developing new
methods or research criteria and to establish new policies; 3) Planning and executing system
engineering and integration (SE&I) activities, and delivery of SE&I
products that define IW programs that are capability-based and employ a spiral
development acquisition approach.
