NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:
This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
REMARKS: This position is being advertised as an indefinite appointment and applicant selected may be released at any time, and advised of his/her rights and benefits to which entitled. In the event a permanent employee is accepted for this indefinite position, there will be a change in their tenure from permanent to indefinite. Indefinite appointments may be made permanent at a later date without competition.
This position is located in the Operations and Training Division, Directorate of Plans, Training and Mobilization of an Army
National Guard Major Training Area (MTA). The purpose of this position is to manage and direct the activities of the Operations and Training Division assuring ranges, training facilities, training aids and devices are available to saps of the training site.

WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Commissioned Officers (O2/1LT- 04/MAJ) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Commissioned Officers (O2/1LT-O4/MAJ), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia Army National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.

MILITARY ASSIGNMENT : Applicant selected for this military technician position must occupy a military assignment in the Virginia National Guard that ensures proper grade, unit, and MOS prior to placement.Learn more about this agency
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Formulates long and short range plans for the development of range facilities and the training areas. Supervises and evaluates a minimum of three subordinate personnel assigned to the Operations and Training Division. Establishes performance standards, goals, and objectives for subordinates. Coordinates with user- organizations for use of MTA ranges and training facilities. Prepares budget requirements for submission to support man day, training. schools and travel for the Operations and Training Division. Conducts surveys of users to assess adequacy of existing facilities to meet training requirements, and reviews the installation five year plan to ensure it meets existing and future requirements.Review Plans.Reviews plans for army aviation, airborne.Develops installation policies and regulations governing range safety, training, medical evacuation and other emergency procedures. Based on projected availability of the latest simulation devices, determines and recommends suitable facilities for use as simulation centers.Develops guidelines for the preparation of training programs for personnel and elements assigned or attached to the MTA or installation support unit(ISU.Formulates policies and procedures for the control of classified material. restricted areas and communications security.Develops plans and procedures for the overall communications requirements for range and field training operations
