Summary

The Office of the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (SIGTARP) was established at the Department of the Treasury under the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008. The mission of SIGTARP is to conduct, supervise, and coordinate audits and investigations of the purchase, management, and sale of assets by the Secretary under the TARP. We are looking for people to join our team as we take on our responsibility to oversee this historic program and its participants.

This position is located in the Executive Office and reports directly to the Director of Communications. The incumbent is responsible for assisting the Communications Director in setting and developing media and Congressional policy strategies for the SIG for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (SIGTARP).

Help

As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will:

- Assist with the overall public communications program for SIGTARP.
- Serve as an advisor to the SIG, General Counsel, Director of Communications, and other senior level managers on dealing with influential audiences on media and Congressional relations, marketing, and information needs/concerns with respect to TARP's programs and responsibilities.
- Assist in directing the planning, development, execution, and evaluation of the standards concerning proposed actions in the program area described above. The Specialist may develop strategies for nation-wide multimedia public service campaigns to promote TARP's programs and services.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of Congress, Congressional committees and/or staffs, the national media, professional associations, non-profit organizations, and other government agencies to explain media objectives and obtain feedback on information needs, concerns, reactions and attitudes.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

- Planning, organizing and developing programs of a significant scope;
- Conveying information to the general public and segments of industry;
- Preparing materials for all forms of mass communications and briefings for senior-level officials;
- Developing effective and measurable communication strategies to the media and general public;
- Communicating with and providing advice to senior-level management regarding standard communication practices; OR
- Developing written materials designed to encourage others to adopt positions on various issues

Specialized experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

- Assisting in the planning, organizing and developing of programs of a significant scope;
- Assisting in the preparation of materials for all forms of mass communications and briefings for senior-level officials;
- Assisting in the development of effective and measurable communication strategies to the media and general public;
- Communicating with senior-level management regarding standard communication practices; OR
- Developing written materials designed to encourage others to adopt positions on various issues.

Specialized experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:

- Assisting in the preparation of materials for all forms of mass communications and briefings;
- Assisting in the development of effective and measurable communication strategies to the media and general public;
- Communicating with management regarding standard communication practices;

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency
