"These positions are being filled under the Acquisition Expedited Hiring Authority. The Secretary of the Air Force has delegated authority to appoint certain Civilians to positions designated pursuant to the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improve Act (DAWIA); positions are located Air Force-Wide. Positions are filled as permanent with a full-time work schedule. Pay may vary by geographic location."

The PALACE Acquire Program offers you a permanent position upon completion of your formal training plan. As a Palace Acquire Intern you will experience both personal and professional growth while dealing effectively and ethically with change, complexity, and problem solving. The program offers a 2-year formal training plan with yearly salary increases. Promotions and salary increases are based upon your successful performance and supervisory approval. This is your opportunity to begin a successful civilian career with the United States Air Force.

Help

1550 - Performs computer science tasks of limited scope and difficulty which are screened by a higher grade computer scientist/engineer. Some knowledge of work processes and the capability to apply standard computer science/engineering practices are required to directly apply varied rules, procedures and precedents to the assignments. Perform computer science work of limited scope and complexity in support of projects assigned to higher grade computer scientist/engineers. Plan work procedures and selects standard practices and data to be applied to work projects and identify problems. Uses accepted computer science/engineering work processes to search for information to bear on a problem and recognizes situations which may require referral to others.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

1. Mobility - you may be required to relocate during or after completion of your training.

2. Successful completion of all training and regulatory requirements as identified in the applicable training plan.

3. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

4. May be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft in the performance of official duties.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).  Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.  You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

BASIC REQUIREMENT:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY AT THE GS-9 LEVEL:

 Applicants must have specialized experience and/or directly related education. All educational requirements must be met not later than 31 Aug 2017.

You may qualify at the GS-9 Level if you meet one of the following:
A. I have a Master's or equivalent degree in Computer Science or a field that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. (SUBMIT COPY OF TRANSCRIPT)
B. I have a Computer Science degree at the undergraduate level and one or more years of specialized experience at the GS-7 level. (Submit a copy of your transcript). Degree Audits are not acceptable. 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Successfully completed 1 year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, the specialized experience must have been at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service.

EDUCATION EVALUATION

Applicants should have sufficient knowledge to understand the fundamental concepts and techniques of computer science. Courses designed to provide an introduction to computer science techniques and methodologies, to problems of system design, and to other specialized fields are acceptable. Courses or experience in teaching elementary, business, or shop mathematics are not acceptable.

Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
