About the Position:
This position is located at the Rock Island Arsenal (RIA), US Army Installation Management Command, USAG-Rock Island Arsenal, Directorate of Emergency Services, Physical Security Division, Rock Island, IL.
The position is located on the Rock Island Arsenal which is part of the greater Quad Cities area. The Quad Cities area is located on the Mississippi River and has all the advantages of a large major city to include minor league sports teams, large shopping malls and discount stores, museums, theaters, art galleries and a zoo. The installation is unique in that it is an approximately 950 acre island in the middle of the Mississippi River.
As required by 5 U.S.C. 3310 and 5 CFR 330.401, guard positions are restricted to preference eligibles.
Nonveterans may be appointed to guard positions only if no qualified preference eligibles are available or through certain noncompetitive actions or temporary appointment

Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: Monitor access area on movement of personnel, visitors, and/ or contractors to prevent unexpected incidents (e.g., trespass, sabotage, and/or theft of property). Prepare clearly written reports on incidents, unusual situations, and/or conditions that were encountered on or off accessed areas. Accompany senior officers or seasoned guards when responding to complaints or reports of incidents. Direct traffic during rush hours. Operate a radio or telecommunication equipment to pass and receive clear-cut information from peers or senior officers. Perform a variety of clerical tasks (e.g., maintaining security records, insert data/information into systems, operate identification systems, review requests for and issuing passes and identification documents; review specific factual items, etc.) to accomplish security program operations.
