Position is located at the U.S. Army Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment Activity, Redstone Arsenal, AL. Incumbent inspects test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE), parts, supplies, and tools from customers located worldwide.

Basic Education Requirement:
The Physicist occupation has basic educational requirements which apply to all positions. In order to qualify for this position, you must possess one of the following:
(1) A bachelor's degree in physics; or a degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics. The courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, courses in any two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound. OR
(2) A combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, courses in any two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound.

Experience required: In addition to the Basic Education Requirement stated above, you must also meet the specialized experience below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Performing general or specific background informational research; using setting-up and calibrating non-complex and standard laboratory instruments; conducting tests and the making and taking of physical experimental measurements; computing and correcting numerical data in the interpretation of observations or data; preparing preliminary internal reports of originally recorded data with responsibility for the accuracy of observations and the accuracy of computations and conversion of such data.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

(1) One year of graduate-level education in physics or a related field. OR
(2) Bachelor's Degree in Physics or a related field with Superior Academic Achievement. Superior Academic Achievement is based on (a) class standing, (b) grade-point average, or (c) honor society membership.

(3) Combination of specialized experience and education as stated above totaling at least 100 percent. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
