As a GS-4 Student Trainee (Program Support Assistant), you will:
Provide assistance to the supervisor in the preparation of a variety of administrative material required to support the organization.
Assist in reviewing reports and other documents for correctness and verifying discrepancies with the appropriate office or individual.
Assist higher level employees in evaluating the success of projects in attaining their productive goals.
Conduct follow-up actions to assure timely receipt of responses.
Assist in assembling data and consolidating and preparing reports for assigned projects; and review for correctness and conformance to organizational policies.
Answer phones and route callers to appropriate personnel within the organization.
As a GS-5 Student Trainee (Program Support Assistant), you will:
Identify data required for use by management for various programs and identify various resources required to support program operations.
Write reports of study findings for projects
Research and investigate new or improved business and management practices for application to agency programs or operations
Assist higher level employees in evaluating the success of projects in attaining their productive goals.
Assist in assembling data and consolidating and preparing reports for assigned for projects
Type memorandum, reports and other documents as assigned and review for correctness and conformance to organizational policies.
Registration with the Selective Service (if applicable).

Qualifications

Internship Eligibility Requirements:
Individuals accepted for enrollment (must
provide an acceptance letter from the academic institution on
letterhead) or students enrolled (you must provide academic transcripts)
in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities,
community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical,
vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other
qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or
certificate.
Note: You must provide an acceptance letter from the academic institution on letterhead if you have been accepted for enrollment for Summer 2017 or Fall 2017 and if you are currently enrolled you must submit your academic transcripts.
Minimum Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-04 grade level, the applicant must have graduated from high school and successfully completed at least two years of academic education above the high school level; OR the applicant must have at least one year of progressively general experience as it relates to having a clerical knowledge and skill. General experience is a demonstrated experience using word processing hardware and software; producing, storing, retrieving, and printing documents; sorting, calculating, and retrieving information from electronic databases or spreadsheets; composing and reviewing reports, charts, and graphs; operating office equipment; sorting, filing and retrieving materials in alphabetical, numerical or chronological order; and answering office telephones and referring calls to appropriate staff; OR the applicant may qualify based on a combination of general experience and education
Note: One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks. To determine if you qualify based on a combination of education and experience, first determine your education as a percentage (e.g., 30 semester hours divided by 60 equals 50%); then determine your experience as a percentage (e.g., 6 months general experience divided by 12 equals 50%); finally, add the two percentages and if the total equals 100% or more, you qualify (e.g., 50% + 50% = 100%).
To qualify for the GS-05 grade level, the applicant must have completed a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's or equivalent degree; or a Bachelor's degree; OR applicants may qualify using specialized experience if they have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 level in the Federal service or obtained in the public sector. Specialized experience includes prepared and/or edited databases, spreadsheets, correspondence, reports and other documents; conducted non-complex presentations, used word processing hardware and software; produced, stored, retrieved, and printed documents; sorted, calculated, and retrieved information from electronic databases or spreadsheets; composed and reviewed reports, charts, and graphs; operated office equipment; sorted, filed and retrieved materials in alphabetical, numerical or chronological order; OR the applicant may qualify based on a combination of education and experience for the GS-05 grade level if the applicant exceeds 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
