The Stratton Albany VA Medical Center is seeking a plastic/reconstructive surgeon. The incumbent will provide plastic and reconstructive surgery and is expected to have experience in performing the full range of plastic/reconstructive procedures be primarily responsible for coverage of the plastic surgery service and is expected to have experience in performing reconstructive procedures including breast, head & neck, abdominal wall, and soft tissue. The ideal candidate will have a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in hand surgery but this is not required for consideration. Duties for this position will include teaching fellows, residents, and medical students. Responsibilities include managing hospitalized patients, managing all phases of plastic/reconstructive surgical and hand surgery interventions from pre-operative evaluation to post-operative follow-up, attend to plastics clinic, and a strong commitment to academic pursuits. Shared call coverage during off tour hours is required. Successful candidates must have credentials to qualify for a full or part-time VA appointment and a faculty appointment in the division of Plastic Surgery at the Albany Medical Center. Stratton Albany VA Medical Center is closely affiliated with Albany Medical Center, and therefore requires that candidates meet the criteria for an academic appointment.

Physical Requirements: The physician should be physically and mentally capable to perform the duties of the position including examinations, formulate the diagnosis and treatment plan and educate residents. Physical activities include sitting, standing (up to 8 hours) walking (up to 2 hours), heavy lifting (45 pounds or over), reaching above the shoulder, and repeated bending. The incumbent should be emotionally and mentally stable; and capable to perform the duties of the position.
