    This National Guard position is for a ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT TECHNICIAN (OA), Position Description Number D1436000 and is part of the AZ 161st Air Refueling Wing, Air National Guard.

    NOTE: This position is subject to rotating or night shift work.
    NOTE: Must possess Secret security clearance and current/passing fitness assessment.
    Individual selected will receive an Indefinite appointment and may be converted to permanent based on availability of funds or position no longer being encumbered.

    NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

    Responsibilities

    ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT TECHNICIAN (OA), GS-0303-6, this position is located at 161st Air Refueling Wing Phoenix, Arizona. Its primary purpose is to serve as the focal point, local authority and expert source for information in providing a wide variety of orderly room/administrative support for the organization.

    Conditions Of Employment

    • National Guard Membership is required.
    • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
    • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
    • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

    MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

    Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.     Military Grades: E-4/SrA - E-7/MSgt

    Compatible Military Assignments: Must possess AFSC 3S0X1.

    Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 9 months experience performing administrative work, gathering information, compiling data and preparing reports. Experience in the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures or law. Experience using oral and written communication.

    How You Will Be Evaluated

    Once the announcement has closed, your resume and supporting documentation will be used to determine if you meet the qualifications listed on this announcement.     The following competencies need to be addressed on the AZ NG 335-2-R Form (for additional space please use MS Word document)

    1. Ability to serve as the focal point, local authority and expert source for information for all
    administrative functions of the unit; these functions include correspondence and
    messages; records documentation management; printing and duplication; publication and
    forms management; reference library; special orders; receipt, storage and control of
    classified documents; on the job training programs for both technicians and unit military
    personnel; and Personnel Concepts III (PCIII) program.

    2. Ability to identify and research a wide variety of administrative problems to determine the best solution when there is not one absolutely correct or appropriate solution and recommend course of action to be followed.

    3. Ability to provide technical support and troubleshooting for daily network operations including identifying issues and resolving problems, and documenting the problem history and solution; record trends and problems for resolution by the incumbent or other network specialist; explain complex network concepts to nontechnical personnel in non-technical language.

    4. Ability to work independently in planning and carrying out steps for completing assignments in
    accordance with established office instructions and practices.
