Duties

Help
  • You will independently perform work in support of qualification, pre-production, lot acceptance, surveillance testing, experimentation, and malfunction investigations.
  • You will be responsible for assisting in the design of experimental components and configuration, purchasing or coordination of fabrication of necessary components established during the design phase.
  • You will ensure successful movement and inventory of explosives identified for test series.
  • You will gather required equipment, tooling, and materials and perform necessary explosive and non-explosive assembly tasks.
  • You will review, monitor, and prepare cost estimates, test plans, and similar documentation.
  • You will review test results to draw conclusions and make recommendations to improve test experiments or correct problems.
  • You will conduct non-routine testing and evaluation and design new test instrumentation and procedure development.
  • You will perform applicable preventative maintenance, calibration, certifications, and testing of all processes, equipment, instrumentation, facilities, and ancillary equipment used during operations.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications


For the NT-04:
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-3 (GS-9/10 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing or developing technical engineering methods and procedures to make recommendations on improving test experiments or correcting problemsin support of explosive testing.

For the NT-03:

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-2 (GS-5/8 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing technical engineering services by assisting in the preparing and modifying of energetics to draw conclusions on improving test experiments or correcting problemsin support of explosive testing.

For the NT-03 only:
Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:

Additional information

You will serve as a Technician in the Non-Destructive Evaluation Branch (R35) of the Test & Evaluation Division (R3) of Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head.

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project.

This announcement uses the STRL for Direct Support direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
