Help
  • You will serve as a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Lead, supporting multiple competency areas such as propellant extrusion, propellant machining, propellant conditioning, propellant inhibiting, and various types of NDT inspections.
  • You will serve as primary point of contact, supporting the portfolio of equipment, management, amelioration and implementation of all Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) and maintenance/qualification schedules of all NDT equipment.
  • You will be responsible for tracing, tracking cost, and maintaining inventory levels of TMDE as they relate to program needs and priorities.
  • You will analyze program Quality Project Plans' (QPP) inspection equipment sections, cross referenced with other program documents, to ensure the validity, accuracy, and necessity of the TMDE utilized.
  • You will coordinate with the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division (NSWC IHD) Calibration Coordinator and the NSWC DD Calibration lab for TMDE calibration requirements, and maintain operation of the calibrated on site equipment.
  • You will support a manufacturing organization.
  • As the NDT Lead, you will be in charge of managing the M12 NDT training program.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain IRRSP certification in accordance with NAS-410 to Level III in Radiographic Testing.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a bargaining unit position at the NT-04 level.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain Qualifications/Certifications to become certified as an explosives handler.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain IRRSP certification in accordance with NAS-410 to Level II/III in Radiographic Testing.

Qualifications

FOR NT-05: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band,NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent grade level) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and evaluating project requirements to assess validity, accuracy, and necessity of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment to recommend modifications and mitigate risk while ensuring compliance with maintenance or repair of cartridge actuated device/propellant actuated device (CAD/PAD) systems or components.

FOR NT-04: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-03 (GS-09/10 equivalent grade level) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing equipment performance to recommend modifications or corrective solutions in support of maintenance or repair of cartridge actuated device/propellant actuated device (CAD/PAD) systems or components.

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

FOR NT-04:

-Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.

-OR-

-Successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.

-OR-

-Successfully completed an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled.

-OR-

-A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

This position is located in the Energetics Manufacturing Department, CAD/PAD Division & Extruded Products, Extruded Products Branch (M12).


SALARY INFORMATION
NT-04: $71,531 - $122,459
NT-05: $94,199 - $172,075

The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $145,617).

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-04 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-11 and GS-12. The NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-13 and GS-14.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.

Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.

A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.
