Help
  • You will serve as the Safety Lead Inspector (OSH Specialist), providing oversight of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) programs.
  • You will perform and provide oversight of surveys, periodic inspections, and studies of industrial operations, trade shop workplaces, and ordnance explosives production facilities and operations.
  • You will ensure adherence to Federal, DoD and DoN regulations during operations where toxic and flammable liquids, gases and chemical materials are used or produced.
  • You will monitor a range of inspection programs (reports of unsafe/unhealthful working conditions; mishap investigation, reporting, and recordkeeping; respiratory protection; occupational safety and health standards, and others).
  • You will work with other inspectors to provide thorough and intensive indoctrination, training, verbal and written instructions and guidance in basic inspection methods, techniques, theory and knowledge acquired after extensive inspection operations.
  • You will administer the Inspection and Process Audit Program, set inspection schedules, assign inspection team members, determine facilities or areas to be inspected, determine frequency of inspection, and draft updates and changes to instructions.
  • You will lead and assign work projects of progressively more difficult permit writing assignments, both on-the-job training and formal training.
  • You will work together with the Occupational Safety and Health Program Manager and the Explosive Safety Officer to assure that operations progress without exposing hazards to personnel performing those operations.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) or grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector monitoring and evaluating the overall safety and environmental health programs and facilities to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and other official directives.

Additional information

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-13 and GS-14. The salary range shown in the announcement represents all of the positions within the band, including GS-14 equivalent (high grade) positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10, currently $145,617 per year.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
