Summary

You will serve as a TECHNICIAN in the ENERGETICS MANUFACTURING DEPT (M), CAD/PAD & DOUBLE BASE PROPELLANT DIV (M1), PRIMERS, CARTRIDGES, & IGNITERS BRANCH (M11) of NAVSURFWARCEN IH DIV.

This position is equivalent to the GS-09/10 level. The full performance is equivalent to the GS-11/12 level.

Duties

Help
  • You will serve as a technician who performs specialized work that demonstrates a high level of technical expertise in support of Cartridge Actuated Devices/Propellant Actuated Devices (CAD/PAD) Manufacturing Branches.
  • You will work on projects which include propellant/explosive mixing, propellant and pyrotechnical weighing (auto and manual), drying, loading, and performance testing.
  • You will also work on projects including: electro-explosive device (EED) assembly and testing, hermetic sealing and verification testing, and laser welding.
  • You will lead other junior members of the technical task team in order to maintain product quality and the implementation of continuous process improvements.
  • You will review tests and test results and recommend process improvements in order to optimize processing of energetic materials.
  • You will support a manufacturing organization.
  • You will be required to report to the duty location advertised in the announcement on a regular and reoccurring basis. Occasional telework options may be available.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You may be required to stand, bend, twist, kneel, and lift objects up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

TO QUALIFY FOR NT-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band,
NT-03 (GS-09 to GS-10 equivalency) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and executing technical engineering procedures to evaluate the quality of energetics manufacturing operations and equipment for an ordnance program.

TO QUALIFY FOR NT-03: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower band,
NT-02 (GS-05 to GS-08 equivalency) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: reading and interpreting technical engineering procedures to perform engineering technician functions in support of manufacturing operations for an ordnance program.
