Help
  • You will serve as a technician that supports engineering activities processes within the Rockets and CAD/PAD Operations Branch.
  • You will use standard practices, guides, and recurring precedents to provide technical support for the manufacture energetic materials.
  • You will be part of an immediate work group that works to maintain product quality and implements continuous process improvements.
  • You will work towards resolution of problems associated with product quality, design, and adaption of process equipment.
  • You will learn analytical, evaluative, and problem solving techniques to perform engineering work.
  • You will communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-01 (GS-01 through GS-04 equivalency) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Utilizing standard practices, guides, and recurring precedents to provide technical support for the manufacture of energetic materials (e.g. propellant/explosive mixing, doublebase propellant extrusion and processing, unit disassembly, hardware preparation, sub-assembly and assembly, or motor load and pack out).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

The following education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:

A. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics.

OR

B. A combination of experience and post high school education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.

This position is located in the Energetics Manufacturing Department, CAD/PAD & Extruded Products Division, Extruded Products Branch Code M12.

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-2 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-05 through GS-08. The full performance level is the NT-4 pay band which encompasses positions equivalent to GS-11 and GS-12.

If selected below the full performance level, you may be noncompetitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management. Promotion is neither implied nor guaranteed.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
