Summary

You will serve as a TECHNICIAN in the Systems Integration Medium Caliber Guns Branch of NAVSURFWARCEN IHEODTECHDIV.

This position is within the Warfare Demonstration Project. The NT-02 pay band encompasses the GS-5/8 grade levels. The NT-03 pay band encompasses the GS-9/10 pay grades.

Duties

Help
  • You will perform specialized work related to the NAVSEA Medium Caliber Guns In Service Engineering mission
  • You will provide the team with the knowledge and skills required to perform overhaul, installation, repair, manufacture, and conversion of MK 110 57mm Gun Weapon Systems (GWS)
  • You will conduct Naval Medium Caliber gun pre-fire checks, live fire exercises, post fire, periodic weapon maintenance, and weapon inventory accountability actions
  • You will provide advice to managers, team leads, peers, and sponsors on specific technical aspects of Naval Medium Caliber gun systems or concept development.
  • You will be required to interact with military personnel during standard pier side maintenance and during shipboard missions

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing

Qualifications

FOR THE NT-03: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-02 pay band (GS-05 to GS-08 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing engineer technician support in the operation and maintenance of hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical systems for gun weapon systems.

FOR THE NT-02: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-01 pay band (GS-01 to GS-04 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector reading and interpreting technical drawings, diagrams, or specifications to perform technical engineering work.

Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:

The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.

FOR THE NT-02: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics.

OR A combination of experience and post high school education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
