You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain explosive and chemical processing equipment, instrumentation, and mechanical controls.
You will determine requirements from blueprints, sketches, and technical manuals and specifications.
You will set up, modify, and adjust electrical/electronic and mechanical controls for conventional and specialized machinery.
You will use various trade skills--electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, steam/pipe fitting, and hydraulic--to repair presses, mixers, vacuum systems, ovens, cutters systems, etc used to manufacture and process propellants and chemicals.
You will change bearings, wheels, belts and shafts as well as adjusting tight clearances and belt/chain drivers.
Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

This announcement uses the OPM Federal Wide direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
Selectees for this position serve as an Instrument Worker (WG-08) or Instrument Mechanic (WG-09/10/11) in the Industrial Support Division, Energetics Manufacturing Department of Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
