Duties

Help
  • Performs work planning responsibilities. Plans use of workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a daily or by project basis.
  • Performs work direction responsibilities. Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes.
  • Performs administration responsibilities. Participates with employees in the development of performance plans and recommends them to supervisors.
  • Provides a work environment that is free from all forms of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
  • Ensures education in, compliance with, and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas.

  • This work requires the employee to drive a commercial motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid Commercial Class A driver's license to include appropriate Department of Transportation medical certification card is (cont)

  • The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and assigned overtime.

  • May be required to train/or guide other personnel
  • Must be able to pass and maintain a JBER flight line driving /runway crossing certification test (Employee for any reason will not be without certification for longer than 90 consecutive days while assigned to this position.)
  • May be required to travel TDY for training via commercial and military transportation.
  • IAW DoDI 3020-42 this position has been locally or command designated as Mission Essential (ME); needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of the activity.
  • Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release.
  • This is a drug tested designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
  • This position requires Lead/ Supervisory duties.
  • This is a Seasonal Position.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5700 Transportation/ Mobile Equipment Operation Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of an AIRFIELD CLEARING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR SUPERVISOR without more than normal supervision.

JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised and
personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment
Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment.
2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Knowledge of the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and /or test
equipment common to trades supervised.
4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications.
5. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
