Duties

Help
  • Apply advanced theories, concepts, principles, complex methodologies, unique criterion, and serves as the subject matter expert for explosives safety site plans (ESSP) through the use of the DA PAM 385-64 process and in accordance with DESR 6055.09.
  • Develop and review concept designs, explosives safety site plans, final safety submissions, final design submittals, and hazard analyses for facilities in which explosives or ammunition are utilized.
  • Provide assistance to Army and Contractor activities developing ESSPs for ammunition/chemical inspection facilities to permit the customer to meet missions while still meeting all applicable explosives safety criteria.
  • Utilize expertise to recommend draft DA and DoD policy changes and review new policy for safety and usability.
  • Analyze data obtained from multiple sources to fully describe an incident, mishap, deficiency, or near miss.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes developing and reviewing explosive safety site plans independently without supervision, researching and recommending explosive safety criteria for Army and DoD, conducting mishap investigations to determine root cause and develop corrective action processes.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12)
