Summary

This position is located in the Division of Sanitation Facilities Construction (DSFC) Program of the Office of Environmental Health & Engineering. This position provides civil engineering design support to engineers throughout the Area and is considered an expert in the use of Autodesk to design and draft plans for the construction of water, wastewater and solid waste facilities.

Help

Responsible for performing computer aided design using AutoDesk software in both conceptual and construction contract drawing preparation for mapping, planning and civil engineering drawings such as site grading, water treatment buildings, water storage reservoirs, pump and well installations, sewage lift stations, waste stabilization ponds, water distribution and sanitary sewer community systems and drainage structures. Interprets civil engineering and surveying field notes for applications to create new drawings. Creating, editing, and managing computer aided civil engineer drawings; plat maps, site plans, grading plans, utility plan and profiles, standard details, topographic maps, land use maps, base maps, and aerial overlays. Incorporates scanned drawings and aerial photos into imagery overlays for design and-as-built drawings. Interprets engineering and surveying field notes, rough sketches, marked up blue prints, specifications, bid schedules, and references to plans for application to create new drawings and maps. Archives or retrieves engineering drawings, right-of-way maps, aerial mapping, and other drawings and maps in the computer system. Creates, edits, distributes, and maintains standard details, standard details records/documentation.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

For positions requiring positive education requirements, or if you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Generating computer aided drawings for water and wastewater disposal projects; generating preliminary or basic conceptual design of water and wastewater disposal projects; and creating and maintaining computer aided drawing files, imagery overlays and aerial photos.

You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

Education

Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for this position for which both education and experience are acceptable. You may substitute specialized experience with education. Graduate education meets the specialized experience in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirements for GS-9.

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave is earned.
