Help
  • As a Supervisory Intelligence Research Specialist you will perform the following duties:
  • Supervise and direct the activities of a group of Intelligence Research Specialists;
  • Provide Tasking to Special Agents under the guidance and supervision of the SAC Chief Intelligence Officer;
  • Direct intelligence efforts of extremely complex and time sensitive investigations involving violations of immigration and customs laws, regulations, and other laws of the Unites States;
  • Supervise a team collecting, analyzing, interpreting, evaluating, and disseminating intelligence information and data related to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) programmatic areas and criminal acts and violations.

  • Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience performing duties such as:

  • Recommending the revision or modification of office-wide policies, regulations, and procedures to reflect current realities;
  • Serving as the intelligence Subject Matter Expert (SME) who trains and oversees the professional development and training of Intelligence Research Specialists;
  • Ensuring compliance with methods devised to monitor and regulate intelligence efforts in the field for conformity; and
  • Planning work schedules and tasking to be accomplished by setting priorities.
Requirements:
  • Must have a Top Secret clearance and be eligible for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).

Training Requirement:
Upon selection,you will be required to attend the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Basic Intelligence Training (ICEBIT) course, which is located at the HSI Intelligence Training Center in Rosslyn, Virginia. The five-week course is designed for ICE Intelligence Research Specialists (IRS) while supporting DHS and ICE missions. This agency specific intelligence training must be completed according to the standards of the HSI Office of Intelligence. Failure to do so will be grounds for mandatory removal from the position. Such failure will result in either reassignment to a different position, demotion, or separation by appropriate procedures.

This is a non-bargaining unit position.

This position is at the full performance level.

National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

Supervisory Probationary Period: This is a supervisory position. Under provisions of the Civil Service Reform Act, first time supervisors and/or managers will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period. You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within one year of assignment to this position.
