Duties

Help
  • Reviews engineering service requests submitted by customers and determines appropriate facility maintenance procedures.
  • Executes assigned projects from Cradle-to-Grave by planning, evaluating and developing current and future projects to enhance the effectiveness of small maintenance, repair, and construction for assigned facilities.
  • Schedules and conducts staff visits to all MEDDAC facilities on Ft. Richardson to monitor and evaluate facility conditions
  • Serves as a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for Alaska medical facilities.
  • Develops and directs the Energy Conservation Program.
  • Supervise one WG-10 Maintenance Mechanic and one WG-05 Maintenance Mechanic Helper.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • Incumbent is required to possess or obtain and maintain a valid State Driver's License.
  • This position requires travel less than 25% between Fort Richardson and Fort Wainwright, AK.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or requirements described below. Individual Occupational Requirements: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

OR

Specialized Experience: progressively responsible practices and procedures related to property management, maintenance, materials requirements, and building operation and repair. This experience may have been gained in work such as budget or report preparation, maintenance of property and financial records, or trades or crafts work requiring technical knowledge or judgment.

AND

Specialized Experience for the GS-11: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with a maintenance program for office or apartment building complexes, hospitals, recreation facilities, military, or other special-purpose installations, assist with planning maintenance activities, and assist to help with preventive maintenance programs to cover such areas as electrical, plumbing, etc. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).

OR

Specialized Experience for the GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes Conducting surveillance activities over construction and maintenance operations performed by a variety of private contractors, including reviewing project plans and specifications for workability, informing contractors of construction and reporting requirements, and supervising operations for conformance with project plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement for GS-11: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10).

Time in Grade Requirement for GS-12: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Education
