Duties

Help
  • As an Emergency Management Specialist, you will be responsible for the following:
  • Manage various Emergency Management Programs and Continuity of Operations (COOP) planning/operations for the command.
  • Provide support to the JMC Emergency Operations Center (EOC)/Crisis Management Team (CMT) during emergency conditions and on a day-to-day basis
  • Act as a technical advisor on emergency response concepts and procedures for situations involving CBRNE incidents, natural disasters, and major HAZMAT incidents.
  • Provide oversight, coordination and collaboration of various emergency response programs with in HQ Joint Munitions Command (JMC) and JMC.
  • Serves as the primary action officer and subject matter expert for emergency management planning and implementation.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as assisting with the installation's emergency response planning; managing of the Installation Emergency Services Program; integrating operational planning and coordination with emergency responders on the installation as well as state and local emergency responders; tracking and management of emergency services and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and High Yield Explosives (CBRNE) operations; and/or planning and conducting training for the installation ensuring all protection related principles of instruction are executed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Serving as technical advisor to higher level management on the implementation of procedures in response to catastrophic events (CBRNE)

The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
