Duties

Help
  • facilities, equipment, training philosophy, personnel, adherence to regulations, fiscal resources, internal and external communication with AF agencies regarding course-related content in the Certification Courses (cont)
  • as well as all other CAS related syllabi executed by 582 HG.
  • Participates in development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of training plans and training and evaluation of FOs and JTACs.
  • Develops Education and Training Materials and Testing Procedures.
  • Participates in development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of training plans.
  • Develop, review, and revise courseware and instructional materials in accordance with established learning objectives.

  • The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
  • Must maintain JTAC currencies IAW JCAS AP MOA Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) and applicable qualifications and currencies IAW AFI 13-l12vl
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military and commercial aircraft or Government Owned Vehicles (GOV)
  • Incumbent may be required to work other than normal duty hours
  • May be required to operate a government vehicle in the performance of duties
  • Previous certification/qualifications JTAC-I, Chief of STAN/EV AL, JTAC-SEE or Chief JTAC-I preferred or recent experience in an Air Support Operations Squadron Tactical Operations Center (TOC) or (cont)
  • Air Operations Center (AOC) executing close air support or joint fire support operations
  • The incumbent must be able to carry equipment up and down terrain to observation positions (OP) in potentially adverse environmental conditions. The incumbent will be required to perform terminal attack control and provide (cont)
  • instruction of terminal attack controls from the OP for long periods of time
  • The incumbent must have the ability to maintain on a continuing basis physical, mental, and medical standards for JTAC, JTAC-I and JTAC-SEE duties as specified in AFI 13-ll2vl

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specializedexperience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, for the GS-1712, Training Instruction Series.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s); Supervising or administering a training program; Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results; Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. Education must have a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Previous certification/qualification as Joint Terminal Attack Controller-Evaluator (JTAC-SEE), Chief of STAN/EVAL or Chief JTAC-I preferred or recent experience in an Air Support Operations Squadron Tactical Operations Center (TOC) or Air Operations Center (AOC) executing close air support or joint fire support operations. Recent experience as a JTAC should be within the past two years.

2. Extensive knowledge of 1C4XI AFSC, US Joint Air/Land doctrine, Tactical Air Control Party and Air Support Operations Center operations.

3. Experience with computer applications (Microsoft Office) for courseware development used in the classroom and student study.

4. Knowledge of organizations objectives, processes involved in military and civilian training, and/or processes relating to training programs in parallel business and industry organization.

5. Knowledge of the methods, principles, practices, and programs related to curriculum development, instructional techniques, and training resources, as well as the principles, techniques, and objectives of test and evaluation.

6. Knowledge of basic budget preparation as it applies to preparing operating and capital expenditure training.

7. Skill in developing course materials and presenting formal and informal courses and briefings. Skills to instruct, facilitate and manage classroom settings.

8. Ability to use electronic equipment in gathering, developing, and analyzing a variety of data and to make recommendations based on assessments. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Current or Former Federal Civilian Employees (Includes current Air Force employees): You are required to submit legible copy/copies of your last or most recent SF-50, Notification of Personnel Action, (block 24 must be a "1" or "2" AND block 34 must be a"1").
