Summary

This position is located in the Systems Engineering and Integration Office (SEIO), Code XP04, within the Space Launch System Program (SLSP) Office at MSFC. The individual is the Senior Liquid Engine Office (LEO) Element Lead Systems Engineer (ELSE), responsible for the systems integration of SLS Liquid Engines to the SLS vehicle, LEO Element requirements and verification, and systems engineering representation to all appropriate discipline engineers and the other SLS LSEs.

Duties

Help
  • Serves as Senior Element Lead Systems Engineer (ELSE) for the SLS Liquid Engine Office (LEO), responsible on behalf of the Systems Engineering and Integration Office (SEIO) for ensuring requirements verification completeness of LEO integrated systems
  • Represents the SEIO and the SLS Program on committees, review teams, and in meetings as a recognized authority in the area of LEO systems engineering and cross-cutting engineering functions.
  • Serves as the SEIO representative on LEO activities, providing communication to the SEIO on LEO activities and represents the SEIO position to the Liquid Engine Office.
  • Integrates and communicates with the SLS LSE, SEIO managers and representatives, Element Chief Engineer, Element Discipline Engineers, Element Office and Engineering Line Management on LEO-related systems engineering tasks related to schedule.
  • Leads engineering reviews and approval processes for LEO and insures that the appropriate discipline engineers and other Element LSE's are involved in the development of applicable SLS and LEO products.

Qualifications

Must have one year time-in-grade at the next lower grade level.

In addition to Basic Education, applicant must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-14), which has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.

Specialized experience is defined as professional working experience that includes experience associated with the development of unique Element requirements and verification, hardware design, and integrated systems. Led and/or participated on specialized engineering review team and working with the appropriate discipline engineers and other ELSEs in the development of applicable SLS Products and those products are fully integrated across the disciplines at the vehicle and Element Levels. Presented on Element - related systems engineering tasks related to schedule cost, and progress to senior managers within the programs.
